The Lipizzaner horses were originally bred in 1580 to be cavalry mounts at a stud farm in Lipizza, a town in what is now Slovenia. Today, their combination of intelligence, athleticism, and superb conformation allow them to pull off some of classical dressage’s most difficult movements, such as the famous levade and capriole. As Baroque horses, they have wide chests, muscular shoulders, and powerful hindquarters.

The Von Blyssens fell in love with the breed on a trip to Vienna and brought the first Lipizzaners to Jorvik. Sensitive, yet with brains and brawn in equal measure, Lipizzaners make great horses for ambitious and dedicated riders who can nurture their talent.
